My hope is that God will move all of us to be generous this November and December and give like never before to the Gift for Christ and to share the hope we have in Jesus Christ.

Every year we receive a special offering in late November to join God in what He is doing to bring salvation to the ends of the earth. God has blessed Living Hope to be able to utilize the wise stewardship of the Southern Baptist Convention and to be able to partner with our own mission partners around the planet. God has blessed the North American Mission Board (NAMB) and the International Mission Board (IMB), both provided through the Southern Baptist Convention, to allow churches like Living Hope to be able to serve the needs of missionaries all over the world. On our own, Living Hope could never make the Kingdom impact God desires to make. Through our direct budgeted gifts to NAMB and the IMB and the generous gifts given to the Gift for Christ offering to help our people go on mission, we’re able to take the gospel to places that have never heard of the hope of Jesus.

The Gift for Christ is how we are able to fund a portion of the trips that we take each year. These trips are crucial to the plans of our partners all over the world. Our people are able to go because we give. When our people go, they are able to provide needed training, care, and encouragement to our missionaries. Without our people going, our missionaries will be limited in the impact God is enabling them to have. As we approach the Gift for Christ, please pray that we will:
  1. Be generous in our financial gifts to this God blessed endeavor
  2. Be willing to consider going this year and serving alongside our missionary partners
  3. Pray diligently for our missionaries and ask God to work miracles in and through their lives

Not only can we go to the ends of the earth and share the hope we have in Jesus, but we can also go home, next door, to the classroom or office, or to where we go to have fun and find people who need the love of Jesus. They are all around us and during the month of December, they are more likely to accept an invitation from you to attend a worship service. Any Sunday is a good Sunday to bring a guest to church with you. Over the years, we have seen more people willing to attend on the first Sunday of December (Dec 6), when we have our Christmas Kickoff!  On that Sunday morning, we worship God with songs of praise and I share the true meaning of Christmas, the fact that Hope Has Come to save us and give us new life with God. That night we have a wonderful time of fellowship, where we enjoy the tastes and smells of Christmas in the atrium and then our worship leaders sing songs and lead us to worship the King who came in a manger to be our Savior. I share the Gospel as well and we encourage all to believe in Jesus. Please begin praying and making plans to attend and bring guests with you to our Christmas Kickoff!

Also, make plans to attend and bring family and friends to our Christmas Eve services. This is one of my favorite services of the year. We celebrate the grace of God revealed in the coming of Jesus Christ and are encouraged with the love of God. It is always a warm and meaningful time of worship. Many who do not know Christ find themselves connecting to the message and experiencing the goodness of God. Please be in prayer for this wonderful opportunity.

God has been so good to us and He is calling us to join Him. As we prepare to enter into this Holiday Season, let’s be ready to do all we can to give and go so that people in far away places can know the love of Jesus. Let’s also be ready to share the hope we have with those in our lives right here in South Central Kentucky by living hopeful and being helpful to lead more people where we live, work, learn, and play to anchor their life and hope in Jesus.
