My hope is that this Christmas season will be a blessing to each of us and to our city. This world of ours is going from bad to worse, but we who believe in Jesus know the whole Story. We know the truth of Jesus. “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
There is a peace that can be found that is not determined by seasons or circumstances. God has not abandoned us to sin and death. For those who believe the Gospel there is a living hope that will not fail and that provides ultimate peace in any situation.
During the month of December, we will celebrate the gift of new life that Jesus gives by celebrating the fact that Hope Has Come! When Jesus entered into time and flesh, He changed the world. His coming proved God’s love and the fact that God keeps His promises. In the Old Testament God promised He would come and rescue a people for Himself. For those of us who believe, we have a reason to celebrate and sing and say to others, “Be of strong heart and great joy!”
On Sunday mornings in the month of December we will be looking at the song of Mary, the Magnificat, found in Luke 1:46-56. Each morning we will see how Hope has a name and He has come to serve, to be merciful, to bless, and to help those who believe. Any would be a good Sunday to invite friends and family to attend worship with you. But, please be mindful to invite friends on Sunday, December 6, for our annual Christmas Kickoff. This service will help everyone get in the Christmas spirit and set a positive tone for the remainder of the month.
Don’t forget! Our annual Living Hope Family Christmas Concert is on December 6, as well. We will enjoy the tastes, smells, and sounds of Christmas. The fun will get started at 5:45p with hot cider, hot chocolate, and cookies in the lobby. Christmas jazz will begin playing at 6p in the Worship Center, then at 6:30p our worship ministry will lead us to praise God for sending His Son. That is what we celebrate at Christmas.
Also, don’t forget to make plans to attend and bring family and friends to our Christmas Eve Service. We will have two this year at 3:30p and 5p in the Worship Center. If you have ever been, you know this is one of the most wonderful services of the year. If you have not come before, please don’t miss this opportunity to worship Jesus on this holy night.
As the year comes to an end, we will continue to receive the Gift for Christ. You can give toward this need until the end of the year. This is one of the most important offerings we take all year long. It provides the resources to get as many people as possible around the world with the Gospel. Please pray for this offering and participate sacrificially.
