My hope is the membership of Living Hope will see God’s Kingdom grow in them and through them in 2019. Paul prayed this for the church at Colossi.
9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. – Colossians 1:9–12 (ESV)
This is what I am praying for every member of Living Hope this year. My prayer is that every member will experience growth in two specific ways. First, I pray every member will make God’s Kingdom a greater priority in their life and that it will be seen in their engagement in the life of the church. Ask yourself this question. How can I give more to God’s work this year? On January 6, we will challenge the church to be good stewards in 2019 and be a bigger part of God’s Work at Living Hope.
Second, I pray for every member that God’s kingdom will grow through us. I challenge every member of Living Hope to pray and pursue lost people and lead at least one person to anchor their life and hope in Jesus. The challenge is simple: make 1 Disciple.
Experiencing God’s kingdom grow in us and through us is God’s will. What I am praying for is what every average follower of Jesus is expected to experience. Pray that we will be basic biblical disciples of Jesus Christ this year.
The book of Colossians will be the focus text for the preaching in 2019. It will be a great encouragement to us all as we pursue growth in God’s kingdom in us and through us. Please take some time and read this short letter several times before we begin chapter 1 verse 1 on January 13.
